It took me awhile to learn how to not take these things personally. I used to struggle not to get upset during meetings where employees were getting upset and blaming for leaderships, often questionable, ideas. Being in Human Resources means you have to grow a thick skin and get used to being disliked in the workplace.
Chief
I have learned to separate the decision from my identity. I remind myself that I am holding the boundary, not owning the choice. Staying factual, calm, and values-led helps me leave the emotion in the room, not carry it home.
Decisions of significant magnitude that impact associates’ livelihoods should be communicated from the top down. Some departments have still not been informed directly which I find reprehensible.
