This is a really bad job market, and what you're experiencing is just part of that. With all the uncertainty in the economy a lot of organizations just aren't doing any hiring. It's frustrating. All we can do is stay persistent, and, like you're doing, broaden our search to include just about anything.
I am about 18 months out from graduating hair school. When I first graduated it seemed like everyone was hiring and I was hired on the spot. This time it took me almost a month to find anything, and most salons wouldn’t even respond to my resume. The best way I found to go about it is by using paper resumes, go salon to salon and introducing yourself. They get to see you looking good and professional and see your vibe and you get to submit your resume and you get to see their salon and ask questions.

That’s a tough spot to be in, but your plan makes sense. Gaining any work now to fund your own esthetician business is smart—and it’ll make your skills and independence even stronger once you launch.
