I finally hit six figures and somehow feel more broke than before. Between rent, groceries, and everything else, it doesn’t feel like the milestone everyone hypes up. Is this just adulthood or is it a sign my financial expectations are delusional?

Yes! This is a real thing. On paper, you look like youre winning, but in real life it only adds to the stress because now you have reduced time for yourself and your family, and somehow, drowning financially

It doesn't feel like a big milestone because it isn't one. Not now that the cost of living has shot up so dramatically, anyway. $100k is the new $50k. $200k is the new $100k.

I don’t mean this as insulting at all, but how in the world are you making six figures as a medical assistant? Clearly I need your advice because I barely make above 100K as a nurse practitioner!

like

It is a hard pill to swallow. Make sure you are budgeting, reducing whatever costs you can, and be more realistic that 6 figures isn’t what it used to be.

I have 1yr experience as a data analyst at AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) and feel like I fit the requirements very well.

I'm happy to talk in more detail if there's anyone who can reach out! Any help with the referral is greatly appreciated!

Lastly, if you could just reach out with advice about the process prep, I'd be very grateful as well!

Researching the job mkt & pay for nursing: It is so easy to set up a first interview esp. as a nurse. Set up a zoom meeting, in the zoom meeting ask abt job details and ask for the salary range. They will give it to you, and in my case it was the same range for both of the companies. (Hospice oncall nurse here👋). Then you fit in somewhere on that continuum based on education & experience—that where the negotiation comes in—they will make a case to place you as low as possible on the scale.
