I got an offer for an Assistant Controller position at a stable, family-owned distribution company that’s been around for 50 years. They’re offering $125k, a 10% bonus, and the health insurance is 85% paid for. However, the Controller is only 45-ish and has no plans to leave, meaning there is zero upward mobility. Will I just be stuck if I take this?

Just use it as leverage for a future controller role for you to apply for.

I think this is a great answer

Yeah at least for next 15 years unless the controller leaves or some other leadership opportunity opens up within the company

So… two months ago I started a gig as a CD. Good agency. Very talented people. Pretty quickly I realized that my new job is kinda about keeping up with incoming emails/teams messages. I can’t handle it. For the last month I have been sleeping in, getting out of bed after 11am, like I prefer. Those notifications start coming at around 8am and all I do is press those suggested replies on teams, not even half awake, pretty much still dreaming, and it works. I’m getting lots of good feedback.

Hello! I am moving from NYC to Dallas in a few months. I currently don’t own a car so I am researching now on what vehicle to lease for the next 3 years. I’ve been told from someone who lives in Texas that it is not safe to get a small car because the roads there are “rough” and that most drivers own suvs or trucks and drive really fast on the highways. I am originally from Miami—I don’t know how much worse the drivers can be? Lol. Would it be bad idea to get a Mini Cooper?

Currently controller for a $120M PE backed company. Interviewing for a Director of Accounting role for a $1B PE backed company. Would be almost fully remote. Probably around 30-40% salary increase ($40k+). Currently have equity that would cash in upon a change of ownership in about 2 years (likely worth upwards of $200k). Change of industry from restaurant to CPG. Thoughts?

I’ve been interviewing for new positions to leave PA. But in my current position, we’ve been adding quite a few new projects (and our team is partner, two staff, and me) that will probably start over the next couple of months. I don’t think my boss has any idea I’m looking to leave - anything I should do to not feel guilty about potentially leaving them short staffed with a ton of work?
