The arbitrary enforcement of in person attendance expectations is infuriating if you happen to be unfortunately too close to your workplace, especially when a lot of people did the skedaddle during covid and got to keep their gigs.
Anyways, don't bring more attention to it by fussing with the comment. If you're a good employee, they probably won't fire you for this complaint if theirs.
New strategy: go to the office and burn through AI tokens. No value delivered but smashing the KPIs (presence and AI adoption).
Time to move even further away from your office so that this doesn’t happen again.

IME in office attendance is never equally enforced and is often used as a fallback excuse. In other words, if someone in mgmt has it out for you they will cite attendance as an “official” reason for administrative action. There will always be people that mgmt looks the other way on regarding in office attendance (“strong”performers, those with allies in leadership, etc).

You can certainly fight it, but be prepared with a plan B if it goes nowhere: initiate malicious compliance (coffee-badging), suck it up, transfer or leave.
Find a counter offer and threaten to leave unless they make you fully remote.
Add your written perspective in the review or ask to have it removed but don’t make a big deal about it until you have another offer.
