Mine 👍
23 years ... 3 kids ... 15 years of consulting. 👍
^ which isn't intended to be a humblebrag. Just saying - have hope.
There is bias in your FB sample, only unhappy ppl post about their marriages here, though they probably make up a minority of overall married FB members. Happily married here and would never start a new thread talking (bragging?) about how happily married I am.
💁8 years, two kids
There are, mine including. It takes a lot of commitment from both of us. My wife is a stay at home mom for another 2 years and will continue working thereafter. I plan to avoid being on the road once my son becomes 5. If a long term local project is not available, I will move to the industry. Family comes first.
*raises hand* about to make 4 years. She's a teacher. No kids, yet. Thankful and excited to have her in my life.
My wife and I are going strong
I travel but only 3 days instead of 4 each week. What makes it work: my husband is supportive and we outsourced everything non-essential (cleaning service, lawn care etc.)
@P1 Do you travel for work? What have you done to make that work?
14 years, 2 kids. Strong and loving it. 👌🏼
I haven't come home early from San Diego and had two strangers jump out of the closet ready to doubleteam my wife - so I amdoing alright as far as I know.
Agree with outsourcing lawn, snow, cleaning, etc. - I don't have kids though and would go local if/when that occurs.
Fair point @A3
As I shared, my wife is a teacher so she's local. However, public school teachers are some of the hardest working and most underpaid professionals we have. It's a stressful job, sometimes much more stressful than mine but we make it work and the "struggle" of workplace BS is another avenue for us to bond through lol.
For those in happy marriages, are your spouses SAHMs/SAHDs, or do they have jobs with relatively easy hours (i.e., less than 50 hours a week, no travel)? Curious if that is the secret.
Here! No kids though.
My SO is SAHM.
My husband works a 9-5 and it's been working for us so far (3 yrs). About to have our first kid and if it gets too hard, I'm prepared to move to industry (neither of us would stay at home though).
Going strong. Might move to industry soon. Less money but more flexibility to pursue "life"
