Need to join the drones of traveling consultants- that travel life! Non-travel consulting sucks, it's more staff-aug then consulting

What is staff-aug?

like

We don't have manager positions at slalom, so op is blowing smoke up your ass. It depends on the office and practice. Newer offices and implementation heavy practices feel more like staff aug as those are longer projects with steadier income

like

@kpmg3 what?... you're mistaken something that I'm not sure what... but yes we are salaried.

like

@D-Bot1 it actually depends on the firm. Slalom is all about staff-aug

like

Staff augmentation aka BAH

like

Yes still here and I'd say 80% of the client work is staff aug, it's painful. Yeah the big pitch is NO travel consulting but honestly I'd rather Fly M-T (with more industry options & potential projects) than traffic commute M-F for slim pickings

like

@kpmg3 Steadier billable income for the company. It's a lot easier to project revenue with a 6 month engagement vs 4 weeks.

like

@op solution architects are not managers. So were you a manager before you joined and didn't change your title? Regardless, candidly, slalom isn't 100% roses and lilacs but that's with any company. For any interviewees I highly recommend asking the hard questions before you commit

like

@accenture2 you're an experienced professional, draw on your journey and create a decision tree to map out what you really want to confirm from your research

like

Slalom cross market "travel" is all staff aug, local is strategic.

Welcome to the dark side

Depends on your client local for 1.5 yrs no staff aug

Exactly my point @K1

It's all staff aug, don't kid yourself. You will be doing staff aug in their buildings, that is the only difference.

Yeah what's staff aug?

What's staff aug??

OP, are you at slalom? I have an interview with them next week. Is it really all staff Aug?

@op you're a manager at Slalom?

Steadier income? No full time base salaries at slalom?

Random question for anyone who has ever exchanged/gotten a replacement away travel suitcase. Is there any flexibility to get a different color? My interior zipper broke and I stopped in a store to ask if they do repairs and they said to bring it in and they’ll just replace it. I wouldn’t hate switching the color but feel weird asking for some reason

How do I strategically discuss or negotiate remote work abroad in an interview or when verbally handed the offer?

I am currently interviewing a few of companies. I want to be able to travel (abroad) and work. Time zone isn't an issue, I can work at the same time zone or ensure significant time overlap.

How would you ask for remote work without setting anyone off?

Hello,
I work in SAP Data Migration space.
Can anyone explain the difference between PWC SDC, PWC AC and PWC India?

I am trying to get into PWC. here are a few things I have heard so far. Is this fairly accurate?

1. PwC AC is offshore counterpart of PwC US. Good salary. No travel opportunities. Average yearly hike ~10% Mostly technical work.
2 PwC India is a pure consulting firm. Salary better than PwC AC. client facing work. Can grow as a management consultant. Great Travel opportunities.

Just graduated with Aerospace Engineering degree. I am interviewing for multiple positions at once with different companies. One gave me an offer and they want me to get back to them within 2 days. I still have other interviews scheduled and some for higher paying jobs (around 90k) What should I do?
I do like the company that gave me an offer but their base pay was 80k and they went up to 85k. Is asking for them to match the 90k too much? The position is associate systems engineer.

Best books to study for case-study interviews? Or methods people have used? Coming from the consulting industry already but not a pure strategy role so need to catch up to speed fast

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
