If a party enters into a PSA to buy real estate with knowledge that the Seller is already under contract to sell to someone else can the party take title free and clear of the earlier PSA (neither buyer has closed yet or recorded yet). This comes up because we are always arguing with sellers that if they sell the property to someone else in breach of the PSA and we can’t get specific performance as a result then the buyer should (continued in comments)

Any NYC big law firms that are NOT returning to office yet?

Do any firms have an “ESG” group? Is it a real group with dedicated staff or just a website with content pulled together from other practice areas?

2017 grad so technically a 4th year. Lateraled to a CRE boutique in NYC that’s a major player. Learned quickly that my experience/knowledge/organization is not up to par (was a COG in the machine at prior firm). Just had EOY review and, though positive sounding, they’re dropping me to a 3rd year to ensure I’m not billing as a 4th year and able to do the work to learn/get up to par. I feel pretty okay about it (market salary deduction notwithstanding), but want to make sure I’m not being naive.

For those who made the jump from biglaw to midlaw, how long did the recruiting process take? I just started interviewing last week and have a ton more interviews this week, and I’m already exhausted balancing that with a current busy workload. And how many firms did folks apply to/approx how many interviews did you do in total? Trying to get a sense of how long this process is for people.

What are your average billable hours? Month / year? What type of practice are you in? Are you on the Cravath scale? What associate year?

Any insight into what NY Biglaw counsel positions pay? I imagine it varies but I think my firm may be majorly lowballing with basically just senior associate salary. Bonuses are likely just top of associate scale too so max $100k. I hear people leaving for much higher paid counsel spots elsewhere so curious.

Any Advice for navigating the Long Island legal market? I’m currently clerking and will be moving to Long Island in a few months for family reasons. Working in the city isn’t feasible given my circumstances so I’d love any advice from current practitioners in the area. Hi! I’m a first-year associate working at a large regional firm. I attended a well-ranked, but regional law school and my grades weren’t stellar. School was never very motivating for me, and I put way more effort into internships and networking than my studies during law school. Luckily, I love to network and landed an awesome job at a big firm. Eventually, I’m hoping to work in-house. My question is this, will my grades always follow me? I’ve heard that with time and experience, not so much.

My firm reimburses for two bar association memberships, but are any actually worth joining? I don't really need CLEs but would be down for good networking / social opportunities (if they exist)

NYC to $200K?

I’m a 2nd yr. in M&A (if relevant: I’m billing on average 176 hrs, lowest month was 144, highest was 281, not getting paid market about 20-30k below). I’m considering a lateral move to Latham.
