I had three people cry in my office last week. None of them work in my team. I cant have another week like that this week.

Sometimes HR is just the only place people feel safe. That's an honour, but it's heavy too.

Where do you go when you need to decompress?

Oh, no! Were they part of your HR team? Because I'm right there with them! This year has been exceptionally challenging. I just started taking walks on my lunch break to get out of the office and get some fresh air. Surprisingly, that little change of scenery is working wonders on my mental health.

That’s such a great idea. A simple walk can really reset the brain. I’ve started doing something similar—just 10 minutes away from my desk makes a big difference. Glad it's helping you too!

Wow, it sounds like last week was really tough and mentally draining. I hope everyone is okay now. It’s important to have a supportive environment where we can share our feelings. Not being part of your team, it's definitely a compliment that they came over to find you. You must be good at supporting your team and others have noticed.

That’s really kind of you to say—thank you. It did mean a lot that they felt comfortable enough to talk to me. I agree, just being able to listen can be so important in tough moments.

I take a 30-minute lunch break. It helps me to get my head straight for the remainder of the day.

I also work the hours that are scheduled to ensure good work/life balance. I rarely work additional hours. I learned a long time ago, that the work will be there the next day. No sense in stressing over it. The week of working 55 - 60 hours per week no longer exists for me.

Setting that boundary is so important.

I agree with the above comments, moving away from your desk for a while in your lunch break like a walk outside etc can have a positive impact on yourself. But I’m glad you also have a department to go to and people you can trust to talk to. Always best to look out for each other when needed.

getting that bit of fresh air can make all the difference. I’m lucky to have some brilliant people around me at work

Same thing has been happening at my company. Everyone is so burned out right now that I have seen too many people cry over the past week. When I need to decompress I go to my therapist.

That’s really sad to hear, but unfortunately so relatable. The pressure is getting to a lot of people lately.

Happy to provide my story on the other side. Spent two years at Accenture under Technology mostly working on business analysis for implementations and PMO.

Left for Facebook for a role in strategic analytics in BizOps with 180k TC.

Few tips for looking at exits:

1) Referrals are a huge tool for getting your foot in the door. At Facebook it guarantees that atleast your resume is given more than a glance.

2) A well constructed story/resume can offset any weak points in your experience

I received an email from the HR at Monitor Deloitte that I've cleared the case round and a back to back discussion with partner and director of the team will be scheduled. Been almost 3 days since this email, haven't received asking for availability from the scheduling team. This for a role with their Lifesciences Strategy practice in the UK. How long do they typically take to schedule the final round of discussions? Do they eliminate candidates in this round?

Help- my FBIL is refusing to rent a tux for our wedding because he already owns one. It is a different tuxedo. We would like everyone in the same tux, which I don’t think is crazy to ask for? It’s not a financial issue and it’s not some sort of weird style. 11 other men will be in the rental, it will be obviously different. We’re paying a lot for formal pictures and while this isn’t a tragedy by any means, it is upsetting to my fiancé and I, especially as we ALWAYS go with everyone else’s flow.
