I’ve put myself up for L4 promo this cycle. Assuming I get it, what would be the best next steps to optimize for long-term growth/TC?
My understanding is that L5->L6 is extremely painful at Google. It may be easier to leave for a handful of years and gain managerial experience before returning.
L4->L5 is less challenging; however, I’m under the impression I can do this quicker at another company (if I leave after being freshly promo’d) AND get higher TC.

My friend who is currently at 13LPA, Barclays HR told him that they can't provide more than 15. On the other hand company like Mindtree is ready for 20. So yeah, weird things are happening now

I was expecting HPE/captive to give more like they used to give in the past. These days they are either just matching or giving lesser.. so that's weird..once they used to be paymaster , now they r not even matching properly.
Big companies are going to lose out on margins if paid higher. Mid tier and startups are banging huge deals and turning out as blue chips
