I have a friend that received an inquiry from his manager (who had received notice from some monitoring list the company has) that he was looking for jobs on a third-party job portal (not any of the big ones). I told him this is highly unusual. According to him he was doing it but it was some time ago now. Is it legal for someone to be brokering that data and providing it to employers with identities attached? He is located in the US in Alabama.

Is this a good stepping stone to a Privacy Counsel role? How long should I expect to work at PwC before I could apply to Privacy Counsel roles??

After obtaining CIPP certification, I am starting a data privacy practice group at my law firm. I’m looking for tips on how to get started: what are your recommendations for preparing internal documents/templates, staff training, client development and best practices for advising clients, etc.?

Has anyone been successful negotiating a “breach notification costs” provision in contracts with vendors? What are some good args to include it? I feel like vendors generally flat out say “no”, but I have seen some contracts where vendors were willing to include it and I’m wondering how that happened 😁
