Would love some insight on how you went from an HR assistant/coordinator to an HR Generalist. I’ve been in the HR world for 8 years, and only in the last 2-3 have I really done real HR work. The first company I was at didn’t have a solid HR team so I don’t really count that. I feel like I’m ready to take on more responsibility and learn more. And of course make more money.

I have looked into getting SHRM certification. But should I go back to school and get my masters in Hr?

How can I try to get into VC? Particularly tough tech and things like robotics, automation, transportation, etc. I’m currently at T2 consulting in industrials and I’ve tried networking with a few VC firms in this space, but no luck.

Applying to roles within the same federal agency. I know you need one year within the probationary period, but can I apply to a higher GS level? For example, if I'm GS 9, receive a promotion to GS 11 at the end of probation, would i be able to apply to GS 13 roles if I'm qualified? Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

What are the exit opportunities for a product manager in canada? Ideally one that makes 2-300k

I’v been in digital marketing for almost 5 years. I want to switch to marketing operations or research, because I find I’m better at and more interested in market research, audience research than keyword research or writing ad copies. I applied for some marketing research and operations roles, but no luck.

Has anyone made the transition from non-profit and small firm practice to federal government, big law, in-house? I’m a special education parent attorney at a small firm and I’ve spent my legal career in the education and juvenile areas of the law working for 2 non-profits before ending up at the firm. However, I’m just exhausted, unmotivated, and and looking for a change. At this point (6.5 yrs of practice), is that type of transition even possible or am I stuck due to the practice area?

How long did it take before you learned to just embrace the craziness?

Curious to know what other avenues people have taken in our industry to make more money. Currently getting OT which is nice since most places don’t offer that benefit but still doesn’t feel like it’s worth the long nights when the paycheck comes in.

I had the weirdest dream. Criminals were put in a gated community under observation and they had to successfully fake their own death to get out. They were given too many drugs and alcohol. Low billable, low pressure work in privacy law? Slowly realizing that as my boys get older, the money isn’t worth what I’m missing out on. Currently a tech litigation associate with lots of hearing, depo and trial experience (I’ve appeared on my own at hearings/depos) at a well respected firm. I have limited privacy experience despite being hired for that reason… Have my CIPM and CIPP/US /E and /C. Remote preferred; hubs is pilot with cool intl transfer opportunities. Money isn’t issue.

Is anyone involved in IAPP’s young privacy professionals group? Is there an age cutoff? They keep emailing but I wouldn’t consider myself “young”! Will they stop emailing when I turn 40?

Having major imposter syndrome still. I feel like the minute I finally have a grasp, something changes. The law and nuances just seem overwhelming. Maybe it’s just a lack of guidance/uniformity in the US. I’m not sure if I feel this way because it is simply the nature of the work or because I’m just not capable.
