guaranteed WFH and more money sounds good. since you love your current job, the only thing that would make me pause is going into a new job that you are not sure how it will be. maybe better maybe worse. that's the risk.
Would depend on my thoughts on likelihood of RTO — both for company and me personally (e.g., could I maybe get an exception). A good boss is surprisingly tough to find AND you love your job — that’s a rare combo. Also depends on how much more money, lol. You’re quitting before anything has changed.
If you think it’s pretty likely that you’ll RTO and the commute is just not doable, then yes, I’d take the job. If not likely or unsure I’d stay put and look again (if) the change impacted me negatively.
This is some sound advice. The RTO is 99% coming. I’ve spoken with my manager and HR and no one can say if I would get an exception because no one knows the full details yet. We’re in a less rigid hybrid model now that allows me flexibility for when kids are off from school or sick, etc. losing that flexibility would be the real negative impact.
Was it an unsolicited offer? If you were interviewing, perhaps you have the answer yourself that something was driving you to interview so perhaps you are more ready for something new than you’re thinking.
This is good thinking! I started looking after an all hands meeting that definitely reminded everyone we are just a number to the org and not a person. I get that will be anywhere but the morale for me just plummeted after that.
