Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

I always let the hiring recruiter know up front that with my experience and qualifications I will be at the high end of the posted pay band and ask if that will be a problem. Sometimes they say that they are shooting for the middle of the band with little wiggle room and sometimes they thank me for letting them know and go to work finding out if that will be feasible. Agree with this. Being up front has helped me hugely!
Having experience is great, but what hiring managers really want to know is what you can do for them. If you want to get more money out of them, be prepared to make a good case for yourself, focusing on the value you will bring to the organization. Focus on what you can do when you step into the role and you may have a chance of getting a good offer.
Be clear that both of you (employee and employer) will start on a probationary trial period.
