Talk to anyone you possibly can. If someone is a professional, they will have a LinkedIn. Connect in-person and then maintain the connections on LinkedIn. Think of it as liking someone you meet, you may never become friends, but it is nice to see what they are up to on Instagram, and you know you could always reach out to them.

Those connections really do open doors. LinkedIn is a great way to start building a network, but just because you’re connected with someone on LinkedIn doesn’t mean someone is suddenly a resource. You have to build the connection.
