What are firm’s known billable requirements? Is there a ramp up period?

Has anyone transitioned from Tax to RM? Could you share your experience and pros/cons of the change? Really want to get out of client facing/billable work, but I like my firm. Thank you!

How do you track your time spent reading and responding to emails? I don’t want to run a timer each time I open outlook, but I feel like I’m losing hours of billable time every day to one-off emails that I would never individually bill for.

I need some advice, I’ve been in a newly created role within a pharma agency for about three months now and it is not going too well. There is little to no structure or direction from senior leadership, no access to client data, little to no billable work. Worst of all, no project is related to what I have been hired to do.

I would like to move on with a different agency asap, but I’m not sure how to proceed with such a short time here.

That moment when your "smart" plan to boost your hours this month by working the Labor Day weekend (thus turning down all the fun plans your friends made) becomes sitting on your hands & feeling dumb because all the partners are too busy to delegate anything. The worst kind of "off" day is one you planned to /wanted to work, but there's no billable work...

For anyone debating whether to go in house, I recently went in house, and the mental health benefit of not having to worry about billable hours is completely worth the switch. It's great not having to worry about catching up on hours when I'm out for a doctor's appointment, vacation, etc. It's more of a mental health relief than I guessed it would be.

Wondering what average billable hours are for 2022.

Happy to report that the week gone by was very relaxing compared to an intense June. Less than 40 billable hours on my timesheet last week. Went to the gym four times. And finished Season 1 of Stranger Things on Netflix. Life is good again!

PPMD how do u know that a client has budget so that you can position billable work ?

I just found out my billable rate, can I use this in negotiations for a higher salary? It’s almost 5 times my hourly rate.

I have a recruiter showing me a general overview of FTI Consulting saying that compensation would consist of base salary + monthly qualified billables + 10% to 20% annual bonus. Is this similar to A&M (% of billable hours)? I'm currently in TS but am looking for a boost in compensation, more than a public accounting firm can offer. What kind of $ are FTI seniors making in this market?

What's the most rewarding thing in this field for you guys? Definitely not salary, although it's just decent.
For me, it's working with parents and when they are onboard, and we see the massive progress in the kids.

ID Associates…how the hell do you reach your billable requirements? Just started at an ID firm and am lost as to how it’s possible when there is so much daily grind type work that you cannot bill for. Someone enlighten me.

My work flow is extremely slow & Idk what to do about it.
1st year lit associate at satellite office in v20. My office lost 20 attorneys since I started last September. Ive had less than 25 hours of billable work per week since March. Ive asked for more work to a partner in charge of lit work, but never heard back. Ive asked other partners for work & get biz dev projects.
