I have always loved trying new foods, so the idea of being a food tester for a place like Wawa sounds like a dream job to me. But I’m not sure what kind of qualifications or experience I need to land something like that. Or if the job has more to it than just what sounds fun. Has anyone here done something similar or know what I should focus on to make myself stand out?

I used to work there in training and they would just put out an email asking for volunteers to come down for taste testing at a certain time on certain days. It wasn't a paid thing, just a chance to get a sneak peek at what they were considering and a chance give your input.

I’ve done some product tasting work before, and honestly, they care more about your sensory skills and food knowledge than having a fancy degree. Start with customer feedback or QA roles in food service, and get good at describing taste and texture, it’ll help you stand out.

I work part time for a startup for equity and am attending an event on behalf of the startup. I’ve only been here a few months and asked multiple times to have a prep meeting with my boss. He instead sent me a 15 page document outlining 40 questions I should be able to answer the day before the event.
I’m so incredibly stressed as I don’t want to show up unprepared and make myself look bad. Idk how to make light of this situation at this point

Additional Posts in Restaurants & Food Services

I had quite the day the other day. Coustmer comes in and then ends up leaving with a grossed out look on his face just for him to put in a complaint about my appearance...he down right called me some nasty things for no reason. Still feeling gross about it. He was upset for no reason as far as I'm concerned.

So I work as an assistant manager at a restaurant for the past 9 months. I've worked in restaurants for the past 6 years science I was 16. Now I'm 22. I went to a trade school for media and film. I got a dream opportunity to work in the field making about the same or 10% more. I told myself the only reason I'd leave this company is for this type of job. Should I take the chance at this job and leave the restaurant that is on the rise and growing?

Check the overtime laws for your state!!

I just recently worked 58.6 hours in a week, weekly pay, nice OT profit right? Depends on where you live.

In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.
