I have two job offers, one as a waiter and one as a bartender. Which one would you take? I’m thinking bartender for the tips.

You'll get tips as both, and either one could be the one getting more depending on the vibe at your workplace. Some spots are restaurants that serve drinks, and others are bars that serve food. you know what I mean?

i much prefer working the bar, it's way more fun and nowhere near as exhausting as being a waiter, but the people do get a little much at times

In USA probably bartender 👍

I would take the job as a bartender. The tips are a big incentive, and I think it would be more fun to work behind the bar than serving food.

If I were in your position, I would take the job as a bartender. Tips are a big part of income for servers and bartenders, so it would make sense to take the job that offers the best chance for earning tips.

I would take the job as a bartender. The tips would be a lot better than the tips as a waiter.

I'd go bartender if you're good with the hours. better tips and the job is usually more fun. However, if 4am nights don't appeal to you, working as a waiter might be better.

Bartender it’s hard to get into! You can serve anywhere

I recently accepted a position with a new org. One of the benefits I asked about with offer was the parental leave policy and was told (in writing by HR) 16 weeks paid after 1 year, which is as good as you can hope for in US. Now I’ve been sent the employee handbook to review/sign and it says only 12 weeks, which is less than the org I’m leaving. What might my recourses be to negotiate 16 weeks when the time comes? Also, should I be viewing this is a red flag?

I gave them a range of $70-75K, so they gave the max. But I am questioning asking for a bit more given insurance is apparently on the higher-end and I want to ensure I didn't low-ball myself.

Just to note, this is about a 25% increase compared to what I am currently making.

So I work as an assistant manager at a restaurant for the past 9 months. I've worked in restaurants for the past 6 years science I was 16. Now I'm 22. I went to a trade school for media and film. I got a dream opportunity to work in the field making about the same or 10% more. I told myself the only reason I'd leave this company is for this type of job. Should I take the chance at this job and leave the restaurant that is on the rise and growing?

Should I try to negotiate a raise or look for other opportunities?
