I have an exit opportunity at a public company that was just spun off from a different company. 50% of the tax dept will be from old co and 50% new hires. Any insights into pros / cons of this type of opportunity? I’d imagine it would be a little like a start up where it’ll be chaotic, a bit undefined, etc. The bonus comp structure is also based on company performance which may not be great in a Spin Co because I think they typically are saddled with debt?

I have worked with a lot of spin off company’s and my advice would be to be prepared for start up culture but in a large company. Lots of new people doing things and figuring it out. Most of the people from parentco will be low to middling performs since parentco will have wanted to retain talent

Hey FishBowl Friends, so I’m currently trying to break into tech sales/FinTech and I feel that due to my previous work history, I might not look like the ideal candidate on paper but I’m an extremely fast learner and very coachable. I’ve been a manger at a gym, got my degree in finance, worked as a client advisor at a top 3 auto dealer in the nation and now I’m a project manager at a solar company. I really want something that’s remote and steady, any recommendations on how to spruce myself up?
