I have cleared conflicts but the background check won’t clear for another week. I have passed background checks at three firms, a background check by USCIS to obtain my citizenship, and haven’t committed any crimes or even a moving violation since then. Am I safe to give notice before background clears?

Received an offer to lateral to a Big Law firm in my current state. Kind of my dream job. Recently decided with my spouse that we’ve had more than enough of our current state and we want to move out of state next year. I am an incoming third year associate in an AmLaw 20 firm at New York. Although I do enjoy the work, I’m constantly questioning myself and my abilities. The work hours are quite bad too. Just out of the blue I interviewed for an AmLaw 70 firm in New York and they extended me an offer. Any advice on the pros and cons would be really appreciated!

I’ve been running into weird happenings at my new firm learn of everything “I misunderstood” about my package. I don’t actually qualify for quarterly bonuses at a pro-rated billing rate; no 401ks till year 2; and the biggest—we don’t qualify for a raise unless we are here during the entire fiscal year. We have a 2100 billable req which I’m barely hitting. We also get paid below 6 figures. I learned that the new associates came is at least $10k over us. I graduated 2020–but 1st firm job. Advice?
