The logical, smart move is to wait another week. But, that extra week of funemployment is tempting, and I’m not gonna lie through my teeth and grace you with wisdom. I’d probably give my 2 weeks now if I were in your shoes

I just gave notice before the background check cleared because I'm a square white guy.

I would say wait but I gave notice one week before my conflicts cleared (background check cleared faster) so I could have a week off. In hindsight, I kick myself for not giving notice as soon as I accepted. The time off was key.

I never give notice until ALL contingencies are cleared, including background checks. They outsource this stuff to third party companies and indont trust them not to screw something up. I've had employers think this is weird, and they probably think I'm worried about something in my background, but whatever.
