I’m a second year BigLaw associate that pays market. I was offered the position at a modified salary and hourly expectation due to their expected work flow needs. I know this question may sound dumb but How do you quit? See, if I didn’t like my supervising partner, I would not care. I would just submit my two-week notice but I truly like my supervising partner and I know quitting will be a shock and disappointment to her. I don’t care for the firm, in that I have no attachments or substantive relationships but I do care about my supervising partner and her feelings🙃

I recently floundered professionally and realized that the reason was I expected my relationship with my job to fulfill all my human needs and when it didn't I had no idea what to do. So just a reminder to prioritize the relationships in your life that give you meaning, your job is one of them but it's a poor life if that's the only one. I have an interview tomorrow at a mid sized firm. What are some questions you wish you asked your current firm? I’m moving from another firm that I thought would be a good fit but turned out to be shitty so I want to scope out red flags early if possible.

What’s the best way to get out of small law? I am a junior partner and don’t want to be running a law firm by myself in 5-10 years. The mid-level partners are not business-savvy so I don’t see myself wanting to partner with them either. I want to move to a larger firm.
