Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

There is nothing wrong with trying. But you're probably right to factor in the situation for culture non-profits right now and understand that if you are denied, it has nothing to do with your quality of work. This is just a very bad time.
That's a great point, thank you!

Take your shot but don’t ask for too much or get your hopes up
Getting pay raises when working for a non profit is a lot more difficult than it has the right to be. But you should still try. Prepare to explain to your manager about the value you bring and what you’ve accomplished for the organization. Then explain your thoughts about increasing your compensation. Good luck!
Thank you!
Frame it around impact and alignment, not just need. Come with receipts: wins, added responsibilities, outcomes you’ve driven. Tie your ask to the institution’s mission and how retaining skilled staff protects long-term value. Acknowledge funding challenges, but don’t apologize for wanting fair pay. Say the quiet part out loud: your work sustains the culture they're trying to preserve. Keep it calm, firm, and values-driven.
Wow, very well said! Thank you!
