I have received offer letter with 33% of CTC as the basic pay, now the new labor code mandates 50%, it appears that this has been mandated since 2022, but somehow both my current organization and Citi are providing 33%.

Is it because they are located in Special Economic Zones and subject to certain exemptions? Will these corporations revise the letter for everyone now? Why did it not happen in 2022 when they started to mandate 50% of CTC as basic?

I’ve practiced litigation in DC for about 5+ years at a larger plaintiffs’ firm, and am considering a switch to a defense firm. Is there any insight to how many billable hours this would require, and how much time that would actually be? For reference, the firm has a 1900 billable hour requirement and the partner said I would have “no problem” fulfilling that based on the work they have.

Not 100% sure, but sounds like American univ. was originally telling students they would have in-person classes, but couldn’t live on campus. Recommended a few places to look for apts for students. So a friend rented an apartment in DC anticipating he would be attending in-person classes at AU. Now AU has cancelled all in-person classes. No claim to break the lease (probably) but thoughts on promissory estoppel vs. AU or anything else?? Thanks
