Most effective way was to start by knowing exactly what I spent things on in a month . You really notice some misalignment Vs your priorities

When I was regularly employed my goal was to save 50k a year. Now it's just ... 😬 ... whatever possible. Like SVP I track all my expenses. Every purchase is on a rewards card that gets the balance paid automatically each month. That makes it easy to categorize and track in Quicken. I know exactly what I spend each month/year and helps me adjust when I need to.

I save about 15% of my paycheck each month. Most effective way was to write down all my monthly expenses so I could visually see what I was spending, calculate how much “spending” money I have for the month and keep track not to go over

Tracking expenses is key to see where you can cut costs. I use the app Spendee and I love it!

Will Amex restricting guess access for Centurion Lounge actually make any difference?

I can see short term changes but the way Amex has been aggressively marketing Platinum card, we just will have overcrowding of primary card holders 🤷🏻‍♂️

What's next, everyone has to spend min. 50k a year to get Centurion lounge access or pay per visit.

Is it too late in our lives to jump into a mortgage?

So my fiancée and I are relatively late in terms of finally landing well paying jobs and being able to save money instead of living paycheck to paycheck. We’re both 36 and currently rent a 2 bedroom in NY and have a combined savings of $35,000 which she wants to use as a down payment on a condo. I kinda just wanna continue saving while renting. I also literally just started contributing to my 401K so I’m also late in the game for that too.

Alright auto fishes, I’m in the market for a entry level luxury car. Open to used or a lease. I don’t plan to use it as a daily driver, live in an HCOL. Only restriction is that I’d like to keep my monthly costs at no more than $600-$700/month (including insurance, financing / fees, etc; have a parking spot already). Doesn’t have to be a European badge. Thoughts?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to leverage the hive mind in finding out how best to negotiate a verbal offer for a 100%-remote Product Manager role in NYC, with a IT infrastructure/digital services firm (MNC but non-American):

Base salary: 120k

Sign-on bonus:10k

Bonus: 15%

No stock options

How competitive is this, and what should I negotiate for please? The written offer comes after verbal agreement.

I've 10 YOE in tech project management; 7 in product management.

Looking for a financial advisor. Any suggestions?

About to get about $10k from freelance. I have a full time job so my bills are already covered. Unsure how to split the $10k - got about $3k on credit cards to pay off, but no other debt. Should I throw the rest into savings? Buy some more stock (have a few $100 invested already)? Could do a bit of each of course but as I split it up it feels like less and less and like I'm not going to see substantial growth either way.
