If you don’t really care about working at that firm in particular and just considered it bc a recruiter told you about it, then I’d look elsewhere honestly lol. It sounds like you may feel uncomfortable there and it’s not worth it...there are sooo many firms out there.
IMO it never hurts to apply and even go through interviews (as long as you’re interesting in leaving). Maybe you realize the firm is making serious, concrete steps to resolve the lack of diversity. Or maybe the firm is exactly how it seems but you got good experience from the interview process and you’re more prepared for a role that you really want in the future.
I am not Latino and I would not apply to a place like that bc I would not want to work for such a place.
If you’re in the market for a new job, why not apply and see how you like the people in the interview?
They’re likely looking for the token Latino. Or are serious about addressing diversity. Might be worth exploring if you’re comfortable being the “odd guy” out.
Address your insecurity and move on.
If he can’t compete with Ivy league students, he is right to remove himself from the running.
Pues si no te gusta, ¿para que te estas matando? You haven’t even applied yet. Chill out and move on. Plenty of other firms out there, including many with Latino/a/@/X lawyers on the roster.
To clarify, I understand your concerns. If I were in your shoes, I may feel the same. If you have these reservations, then don’t bother applying, or at least do more research.
I don’t think you should let the fact that some of the attys have Ivy League JDs stop you from applying. As for the lack of diversity, you could very well spearhead the change that firm needs.
