Rising Star
I'm just going to throw it out there that some clothes just don't look good to us on ourselves regardless of how much we like them on others (I'm anywhere between a 2 and a 6, and I can't stand shorts on me - I wear pants or a dress or skirt, but never shorts no matter how hot it is).
I’m a curvy 12 which is midsize (I guess?) but I struggle with picking shorts as well.
I look for shorts that are high waisted and a 4” inseam or longer. I typically wear linen or baggy fit shorts if I’m wearing them out and about. Target, Old Navy have been my go to, but loft may have some options. I avoid chino styles because they just make the badonk look wider.
I just wear skorts/skirts and dresses tbh, if I MUST wear shorts I stick to athletic ones, biker shorts or loose cotton ones
I am a size 14 and absolutely love my mom shorts from Abercrombie. I always look for slight structure, high rise( but comfy on my waist even it means sizing up) and then slightly baggy on the bottom part. Where it hits your thigh is also important - I hate the long shorts.
Also, I love doing cycling tights with an oversized tee that I usually steal from my husband - I find that it hides all the stuff I don’t like - namely my pooch. Happy to chat more if you have questions!
FWIW - I say wear what you like and rock it!!
Abercrombie ones didn’t work for me though they’re popular. I did end up loving the “mom shorts” from American eagle though! They stretch with wear which has pros and cons
