I realised work was going to be a constant and I couldn't let up unplugging and enjoying real time off, so I pretty much perfected this, at least in my ecosystem. A week or two before my time off, I let my team and key stakeholders know about my upcoming absence. I share dates, clarify what I’ll finish before I leave, and set expectations for what can wait until I’m back.I prioritize what truly needs to be done before I go, and I’m realistic about what can wait. I try not to leave any half-finished tasks that will haunt me when I return. And I leave the first half of the day I'm back just to catch up - no meetings or anything. Also, I remind myself that things will move forward, even if I’m not there. Empowering others not only helps me relax but also helps others build their confidence.
Work is going to be a constant and all the stress that you have getting ready to be out of the office is the same stress you have when you get back from being out of the office. However, you only get to live once and no matter what happens with your job, whether you God forbid die or whether you get laid off, your employer is going to post your position immediately, so don’t stress about stressing, it’s normal.
Now my question is, what are you doing to mitigate the effects of stress?
