I am Offered 29.5fixed by PwC for SA (L2). Currently on 25fixed. Should I join ? In terms of WLB.! My current employer on fishbowl shows Deloitte but have left Deloitte a year back. Currently in a firm with good WLB but PWFH is a big win for me that PwC is offering.
Any guidance or fist hand experience sharing is highly appreciated.
Hi all,
I have a offer from Perficient and joining in 2 months time. Question :
1: how is the company in terms of job security and projects? I work with web analytics
2: How is the hike and work life balance.
3: Attrition rate
4: Hike is good but will it be a safer vet like Accenture Operations?
Need some views from people working there.
Thanks in advance.

Any gamers got room in their discord? 🤔
Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

I had a cushy job in tech and was working 30h/week. Monotony and dealing with morons got me depressed. My life is now much more stressful and hours much longer but honestly i am much happier professionally
Same! Grass is always greener …. But honestly you find morons everywhere. As long as their not in my direct chain of command and the work is challenging, I’m satisfied.
If it helps: my husband had a boring monotonous job for lots of pay for the first 6 years I knew him. Truly maybe 10 hours of work each week. He has a lot of hobbies outside of work and always said “well, at least this job gives me the time to work on them/lots of flexibility/pays me enough to fund my life outside of work.” But he always came home from work exhausted, bored, upset, and unhappy. Being bored sucks!!!
Recently he got a new job in the agency he always wanted to work in and now has fully 40-45 hours of work each week. But I have truly never seen him happier. He’s motivated, excited to go to work, and excited to come home and tell me about it.
I sometimes think we need to treat ourselves like border collies - we’re too smart to be bored. We have to make sure our minds are occupied otherwise we start destroying things.
I don’t think you need to go crazy and find a 60-hr/week job, but I’ve personally seen the person I love most in the world become a much happier person as a direct result of a more challenging, more interesting, busier job.

Not to exacerbate the problem but this seems like more of a third life crisis

Ride it out while you can, use PTO as much as you can, it helps it become more sustainable
30 hours a week is rare, even for industry lol
Oh trust me, I do! I went negative in PTO this month lol

You'll find those idiots anywhere you go.
Well, depends on if you’re helping those idiots or being bossed around by them.
It’s all about your relationship with idiocy.
30 hours for good pay is rare. But, life is also precious. Would consider:
1) what you can do outside of work (side hustle, volunteering, friends)
2) look at other jobs
Change something if you’re unhappy, but many ways to change things
Yep, I think I was where you were same time last year. Been pondering on this for months and setting up my next step in life (not easy with the ‘rona).
Give it an honest thought. Your time is limited and precious. Spend it in ways that fulfill you :)
I’m sorry but after my 65 hour Monday - Thursday, I don’t think you can claim <30 hours and call it a grind.
Now that I’m not triggered 😂, I could definitely see how you could feel that way even with fewer hours and solid pay. Do you think there are opportunities that you could get that would be more interesting? And to me, even more importantly, are you doing things outside of work that fulfill you?
The grind is more about how you’re spending your time, and not how much time is being spent.
OP said they’re dealing with idiots, so it’s probably the case that they’re getting their job done in less time than they need (probably over skilled) and their talent might be put to waste there.
Everyone needs to find their challenge. Hope you find yours :)
In the same boat but I’m 31. Just trying to ride it out as long as I can and build up a nest egg for retirement for when I can’t take it anymore and go start a goat farm in the mountains.
You’re welcome! Good luck!
Are u my manager? U don’t even login to client network 🙄
If they weren’t idiots, you probably wouldn’t be there
I was expecting the work to be much more interesting. I want to start a business and put a ton of work for a few years and then only do whatever makes me happy: help orphans mainly
Totally normal feeling. I been in slower engagements and crushing engagements. Two different parts parts of the military on active duty, as well. The environment plays a big part. Too bad it’s hard to avoid problem children anywhere you go.
If it helps, there are A LOT of people feeling the same with the last year changing things up dramatically (including myself). Think there will be a wave of people giving notice after July 4th (bonus timeline, offices starting to re open, summer, lots of recruiting happening atm).
If you can, hold out till back in the office and see if things change.
Otherwise find something else to push you in the meantime. Certification for something, volunteering, start a side hustle, get out for lunch/walk in some new parks in your city, buy a few self help / career type books and take notes, etc.
You’ve got to his!
Wait you are working only 30 or less a week on your project? You need to be worried about your job!
Are you asking to take on more responsibility? If they don’t have anything else for you to do, have you reached out to your center to take on plus one work? If not, being bored is on you.
Just curious how did you make it to manager at 27? Do you mind sharing your story?:)
Are you S&C?
1. There are idiots everywhere so there’s no escape
2. <30 hrs doesn’t qualify as a consulting grind, sorry
3. Consulting has great exit ops, and you can for sure explore them give the extra time you have.
It sounds like you would be running away from what you don’t like, rather than running toward what would be more interesting. Focus on what you’d like more of, and see if anything changes.
It also sounds like you have some time to experiment. Have you considered a side project that might open doors to new options?
i feel this everyday, but i also don’t feel i have the skills to pivot… right now… i’m just collecting paychecks and using the time to skill up in other areas i want to pivot to
