I am lateraling. My start date is Sept. 7. I was planning on giving my current firm notice on Aug. 2 so my last day would be Aug. 13 and I would have a few weeks off before starting the new gig. Was just perusing the employee handbook of my current firm and found that the separation policy requires at least 4 weeks’ notice. I’ve never heard of this before, and I’m at a loss as to what I should do. I don’t want to lose the time off but don’t want to lose benefits for Aug. either.

McK fish: can people on H1B use the second home policy for LFO? No issues with LCAs? Starting at the firm soon and SO just got offered a job on opposite coast. I assume switching offices will not be an option for the first year so this might be a good compromise.
