What is your stance on remote work and productivity?

I'm never going back to the office. My productivity has never been as good as it's been at home.

As a researcher, working remotely has been a dream—no drive-by meetings while in the middle of deep work, starting the day early to end early. For team projects, there are times when collaboration and meetings occur more often, which can keep you glued to the screen but be honest, I've learned to be strict about scheduling time for myself. Take your walking breaks, make your lunch, stretch and grab a snack run the errands you need the same way you would have while in the office, and don't fear if you appear away as long as the work is being completed well. Being remote shouldn't be a sentence where you are chained to your desk.

like

You have to have a dedicated space for work, even if it's just a corner of the kitchen. When you sit down at your desk you need to put on the blinders so to speak and give it 100%, or you will find yourself drawn towards any number of household projects or distractions that come up. I highly recommend noise-cancelling headphones and if you'll be on the phone much, a hands-free device. Makes a big difference in your ability to type quickly

Even if you are working remotely, you still need to be in constant contact with your team. It's the only way we can get things done because our corporation has so many locations, so we need to update each other regularly. You will need to be able to drop what you are doing, tackle a more emergent problem, and then go back to the first one without breaking a sweat. If you can do this, you'd be an asset to my team or any other

Remote work is not an excuse to blow off your responsibilities. It takes a different kind of discipline to stay on track while being away from managers and supervisors

it's a blessing and a curse, but overall I think working remotely has forced me to take a look at my bad productivity habits and improve them

Personally, I have never felt more productive than when I started working at home. I'm in a space that makes me feel comfortable, I get to section out my time the way that I like it, and I get visits from my cats every now and then!

As a manager, I’m 1000% more productive at home. There aren’t interruptions unless I schedule them. But you do miss the spontaneity that sometimes sparks The best ideas. So we try and do 2/5 days in the office

This varies so much depending on the job and the person. I have been working remote for 7 or 8 years now and I can't imagine going into an office again. My quality of life has greatly improved and I'm significantly more productive than I was when my introverted-self was forced to talk to people all day.

My productivity has increased since I've been working remotely and I think that of all my colleagues as well. The problem is that it has increased so much that sometimes we work overtime without noticing it.

I hated it and went back to the office as soon as I could. I know I'm in the minority, but I get so depressed with the isolation quickly. I love being around people way too much.

Low billable, low pressure work in privacy law? Slowly realizing that as my boys get older, the money isn’t worth what I’m missing out on. Currently a tech litigation associate with lots of hearing, depo and trial experience (I’ve appeared on my own at hearings/depos) at a well respected firm. I have limited privacy experience despite being hired for that reason… Have my CIPM and CIPP/US /E and /C. Remote preferred; hubs is pilot with cool intl transfer opportunities. Money isn’t issue.

How does one go about resignation in the remote setting?

Should i email my boss then follow up with a call? Or the other way around?

The "confrontation" is really difficult for me lol. I actually like my current boss and she's been helpful and made me feel like she looks out for me too. But the new opportunity is too good to pass up on (huge increase to pay. No concerns on the team since ive worked with those people in the past in a different company)

Nightmare scenario and need your help. I moved into a new place in august knowing I was going to be WFH. Quiet, lots of light.

They just started construction right next to my building with all day noise, including a bull dozer and heavy machinery coming within 6 feet of my window. We’re also on the second floor so I mean RIGHT NEXT TO MY WINDOW.

I also have a bunch of men starting at me all day on too of the noise triggering my migraines. What can I do?

I was in the office (pre-c19) on the Friday after thanksgiving so I could get some stuff done while it was empty. A peer Director was also there and asked me for help with something. I helped him a for while, then he said, “this is really helpful, I have to go to an all team meeting for 30 minutes, but could we finish after that?” Me: “an all team meeting today?” Him: “yeah, I always schedule an all team meeting on days like this so people can’t pretend to wfh when they are really on pto.” smh 🤦‍♂️

I have joined a company on 4th Feb, through consultancy on contract to hire basis.
I only received the job offer letter from the consultancy, but no Appointment Letter is given yet.
So since it's 10-15 day, since I joined. Can I leave this company, since I've got a better offer, with my suitable location.
PS: I have also received the laptop, but didn't login or do anything yet.
Please help me, can I still leave the company? And return the laptop to them. Or I have to continue here itself?
