Small business owners who want to rebuild in Minneapolis are first hit with huge bills just to haul away the debris left when "peaceful protesters" burned down their businesses. Large areas will look like war zones for the foreseeable future. This is Joe Biden's America.

I applied, interviewed, and got offer at 2 companies within 2 weeks! You may need to be more strategic about how you go about your job search. I narrowed my search to 2 companies, tailored my resume for each role, leveraged my network to get internal referrals for both, and managed the talent acquisition timeline with recruiters (told them I needed offers / hiring decision 1 week before Xmas). I’m in HR strategy consulting so I know how the process works - happy to chat if you need help navigating things!
Generally I think it’s true, but there are also a lot of people switching roles, so the ones that are really good (interesting and high paying) are attracting a lot of high quality candidates. Plus, with remote work proliferating so much, your competition is often national instead of just people who live in your city.
On top of that, there are so many things need to come together for a job search to be successful:
1. Find a role that meets your exit criteria
2. Get through prelim resume screen to talk to a recruiter
3. Get into the pool of candidates interviewing for a role
4. Don’t get beat out by any other candidates due to either a weak background by comparison or being priced out by someone willing to take less
5. Get through the interview process and beat out everyone else who is also be considered
6. Actually still want the role after you’ve learned everything about it
7. Compensation meets your requirements to leave your current gig
8. Expected start date from the NewCo needs to line up with your desired start date
It takes a long time and there are a ton of places where it can fall apart - probably more than that list.
Market is hot for blue collar workers (retail, restaurants, etc), and good for consultants who want to switch firms, but not so much for white collar consultants who want to join industry.

Don’t forget: everyone is looking as well. I just saw a job at Google that had 200 applicants in 48hrs
Same, bro/sis, same. I hear companies are hiring like crazy but I have not had any luck so far so I'm like, are they really?
