Question about a couple of opportunities that I am considering. 1. A consulting company which is willing to pay me more than the second opportunity but work is going to be based out of Toronto. 2. An insurance company and position is based in Kitchener/Waterloo. Does the extra pay make up for the diff in cost of living between Toronto and KW? Also will higher taxes based on tax brackets offset any advantage? Fyi 200k consulting vs 150-155k insurance. Assume future potential as same. Suggestions?
What are some promising exit opps for Senior Consultants in S&O Health Care Providers? Do you where these folks typically end up after their stint at Big D.
I have a friend who just got out of the military- moved to Florida for a role with Northrop. Has been awaiting special program access, but Northrop won’t start him until that happens. Been ongoing for 6+ months...he was able to extend his active duty time and then picked up some full time work with the guard. I don’t know anything about Northrop or the client- but seems very sketchy considering the duration and lack of communication from company. Anything he can do?
A company posted a job opportunity of the same role for the second time- the first being 1 month ago. Both posts are now up on LinkedIn. Any insight on why this could be?
Fam - starting a contract job and want to do Corp to Corp. The hourly rate was agreed upon for W2 but now doing c2c, does that mean I have to ask for 15% more?
Given the choice, would you: A) Stay at your current full service consulting firm where you’re mostly happy except for low compensation OR B) Take a position at a boutique consulting firm where you’re not sure you’ll enjoy the work but compensation is significantly higher (50% increase or more).
Had an interview for a program manager role. Did my research, got ready for the interview and the recruiter rushed me off the phone, dismissed my answers and was unprofessional. I'm so pissed 😡😡😡
Any tips on how to negotiate salary? Received what feels like a low offer (F500 corp dev / strategy) from a recruiter who has been very abrasive from my first phone screen - want her help but I know the salary is low vs peers.

Does PwC do salary negotiations? I have a 100k offer from another big 4 firm as a 2nd year associate in a risk assurance group. I generated revenue for the firm so I'm sure they'll budge to a degree.
offer from United Airlines. 6 month contract to hire, went through staffing agency so benefits are terrible, but $80h/160k a year. Currently making 118k. Is the salary increase enough to go?

Do people consider their relative advantage when accepting a position at a consulting firm? For example if you knew you would be average at MBB and a rockstar at big4 would that change your calculus?
I have an upcoming final round interview for an M&A role and I’m considering reaching out to someone on the broader M&A team thru LinkedIn (who I’m not interviewing with) to get a sense of the team and culture. If I were to get the job, this would be a peer of mine. I’m also hoping this may help me gain insights for the final round. Any chance reaching out to someone on the side could hurt my candidacy? Should I just wait until after the final round? FWIW, we do have a few shared connections.
NY to SF: $8000 relocation bonus. Reasonable? Do I have to pay tax (~50%?!) for it since it’s bonus?

Anyone else with anxiety/depression issues think our rampant consumerist culture combined with social media (comparing ourselves to others) is one of the root causes of their problems? I feel like modern life isn’t conducive with my temperament... it’s like everything just pushes us to consume more by manufacturing desire / playing on insecurities.
SPG/Marriott members: between Aug1-Dec31 is sweet redemption period to book high-end SPG properties (Maldives, Bora Bora, Koh Samui). They used to cost 90k spg/night and will only be 20k spg/night.
I live in an apt unit right next to the gym. When people use any of the weight/press machines they let the weights slam down full speed. It’s super loud and startling. Some people using kettlebells also throw them around on the floor & I believe ppl bounce balls against a shared wall. These activities occur multiple times throughout the day/evening, but the weights slamming down is the worst. I ask the folks using the gym to be more mindful. But is there a good way to get my LL to do anything?
Does anyone have reccos for online classes, resources, or even books for guitar and/or bass lessons? I have taught myself both and can carry a tune but have found myself hitting a wall from lack of music theory or technical knowledge and would love to be able to just jam a bit more as opposed to looking up chords of songs I like.
