Petty? No, necessary. If we don’t challenge these micro-messages of “you serve, he leads,” we’ll keep being seen as support staff with fancy titles. Keep flipping the script.
Exactly! I keep getting asked to shop for post it’s and sticky pads!
We just keep going backwards lately. Keep delegating!
No not petty, I’d be pist. This happened to me with a Partner I was working with last year. I was the most senior person on the team besides the partner, was also the only woman, and yet the note taking was directed to me too. I also delegated it to the new grad analyst, as it should have been in the first place. 🙄

Use a AI note taker and email the results to conserve your energy for bigger mountains. People will either thank you or feel exposed.
What a crew! I would pipe up and say “This is a lateral meeting of the minds. Can we take turns with the minutes or record them for an administrative assistant”? And quite honestly doesn’t zoom record meetings and there’s an AI feature that can produce its own minutes even if it’s an in person meeting maybe it would be worth doing a Vimeo or zoom regardless just to benefit from the AI minutes. I would not be too keen on taking minutes just because I was the only woman in the room that’s for sure. And I don’t have to tell you that it’s not the note taking aspect of the minutes. The actual pain in the ass is the time wasted afterwards trying to organize and type them up, edit, cross check well. Everybody else has been back in their work areas moving onto more productive things and getting ahead. 9 times out of 10 people were absent or nobody has any feedback or response to the minutes so it feels like a giant waste of time. I think that whole motion to approve is just so archaic. If they’re so fanatical about what’s in the minutes, maybe they could take turns typing them up or dealing with it.
To those saying use an AI note taker, some can’t due to confidentiality. Unsure if this specific situation is applicable but that’s something to also be wary of

You sound successful and you’ve clearly earned your seat at the table, so why waste energy on low-vibration moves like being petty?? It’s 2025, use an AI note taker...setting a tone where no one feels minimized is honestly way more powerful.
How do you push back on downloading recordings of meetings bc you’re the meeting organizer in Teams and only the organizer can download the VTT file. This seems like a feature fail. I want to delegate this task. I don’t care if “it only takes 2 minutes to create a recap meeting summary.” It breaks my workflow. I’m conflicted bc I do like to control the meeting day / time; yet, I want to have someone else submit the generated recap for my review before I send notes to the team. All these tasks big and small add up.
Keep doing what you're doing. It's not petty. It's purposeful. Eventually--one hopes-- your colleagues will understand and correct their behavior AND recognize how graciously you've managed them. Fwiw, the argument that you should just do it because AI makes it so easy? That's nonsense. Replace "meeting notes" with "coffee" and tell us why the VP should make everyone coffee. Because Nespresso makes it so easy?
