Try LinkedIn, that’s where I found my job. I can’t say the same for ALL European countries but for the Netherlands and Germany that’s where I’ve found my job leads. Try for more international companies though so you don’t need a high understanding of the foreign language. I’m in Amsterdam and luckily, I didn’t need to learn Dutch. Also there is a huge tax break here for ‘highly skilled migrants’ aka expats here. If you are interested in the Netherlands, DM me, I have sooooo much more to tell.
I would say forget about it at least until 2021. And then it will probably be similar for Europeans obtaining work visas to USA - you would need to find an agency that offers you a job and can afford / bother to sponsor your visa. You would probably have to prove your “exceptional skills” to the immigration officers, and for that you would need a Cannes Lion, the higher the tier the better.
So summarizing:
- plan 2021 the earliest
- get awards (if you don’t have yet)
But really the important thing is to decide where in Europe would you like to live, because it’s vast, very diverse and very unequal in terms of wealth of countries.
I agree with FCB 1. Plan for 2021 and pick a city/country. Germany, Netherlands, UK, Italy, France are the first countries to go for advertising if you want. Let me know if I can help you :) Good Luck!
I’m trying to do the same thing, and I’llntake any help/advice I can get. I speak perfect Spanish and conversational Portuguese, so I want to shoot for Spain but for sure in 2021... and who knows even then...
I work in Spain, and yes I believe it will be more difficult than usual now to make the move.
I found out I was eligible for Irish citizenship and got my passport. Do some research online and see if you can get a passport through your grandparents, ancestors facing persecution, etc. Dual citizenship makes the process much, much easier.
Have lived in 2 European cities without EU citizenship so hope this is helpful!
Reach out to anyone & everyone you know who has worked at or currently works in Europe. The best way is always through a recommendation if you can get it. Or apply far & wide and be ready to accept something that’s not your ideal job. Then once you’re in the city it’s much easier to get to know people at other agencies. Things can move quickly and being local can often be as valuable as being experienced.
