A close friend of mine in a similar role ended up pivoting slightly, moved into a role focused on underwriting support, and hit her salary goal within months. Would you do that, pivot a bit? You’ve got the license and experience; maybe it’s time to explore adjacent roles where your skills can shine brighter.
The only way my salary would go up is going to a lead position at Progressive. I have been trying to get to coaching but it’s taking longer than I expected. I have been here almost 4 years and it was easy going from services to blended (sales/services to CPT. Anywhere like UW would be a lateral move for me.
I would suggest somewhere else. That role will be outsourced here in a year or less.
Oh wow. Okay.
You may have hit an obstacle that comes down to bad timing. It has been an employer's market lately, and it seems to be getting worse. So companies can shamelessly lowball people and that works out fine for them. If people reject the low offer there will be others in the job market who will need a job and will accept it. The current economic chaos makes it difficult to job hop.
Ugh that’s so sad to hear.
Keep in mind, if you're applying in sales, that 50k is just your base. When you add in commission, you'll easily hit 70. I'm a highly mediocre salesperaon and am making 83k.
I have seen quite a bit of sales positions out there. I was just scared because I don’t know how good at sales I would be but your post makes me more confident about that.
You're not going to make 60-70K for a while at LM. Especially if you're interviewing for the customer service role. It's almost entry level but requires licensing. Source: I manage that role. Maybe you'll get to 55-60K in 3-5 years.
On their job post they said highest start salary is 66k so I thought that would be me because of already being licensed and doing this for awhile. But they’re like because of my area is why they’re only offering that. I was asking for a little higher and nonnegotiable.
Doesn’t Liberty Mutual offer commission like pay though?
Not for the position I applied for. I applied for the Licensed P&C Customer Service Rep. Probably for their sales positions.
