I need a bit of advice, in a previous 121 months ago, my boss and I mentioned about giving training sessions on a piece of software to our clients and getting paid for it as one off work.
I did a few of these and never saw the money.
Fast forward a few months and it’s now become part of our onboarding process with the client, but instead of being 4 hours it’s simplified down to 1 hour.
How do I go about getting clarification on this?! I never knew it was going to move to the onboarding process…

You need to bring it up with your boss. Your productivity is going to suffer if you're continually forced to conduct client onboardings and trainings. Set a meeting with them, bring up the fact that they said that these would be paid (bring the receipts if you have them), and ask for clarification on when you'll be compensated for the previous training sessions and how you're expected to handle the future onboarding sessions.

Thank you for this, I think this is exactly what I needed to hear. I absolutely will do that

Definitely talk to your manager and point out the problem. Mention that you never were paid for the initial sessions and you'd like to know how things will work going forward. If they're going to pay you extra for the doing the training, get them to commit to that in writing. And, if you have anything in writing from the earlier episodes, bring that up.

I have got it all in writing that it would be one off work and paid for, so I should be alright, I just hate bringing up topics like this, but I know it needs to be done

I would honestly just ask your boss to have a sit down and see what your boss says. You are never going to know the answer if you don't just ask. I would especially ask about the money you never got paid.

Yeah I know I need to, it's just such an awkward topic to bring up and I hate any form of negativity. But I absolutely know I need to get over it and do it for my own sake :D

Anyone move from the bay side of the east bay to the 680 valley? We’ve been here for a year and are having a hard time adjusting to the weather and wondering if we’ll ever get used to it. We love getting outdoors but have felt like we’ve spent the better part of this summer inside just because of how hot it’s been. How do you keep up with the same level of activity with kids (running, cycling , hiking) while staying cool?
