I used to notice things like that, and then I realized I was just stressing myself out by replaying scenarios in my head that might never actually happen. You really can’t predict what’s going to be said in meetings, so there’s no use stressing over it beforehand. As my mother always said, “Worry is interest paid on a debt not yet incurred.”

Yes. Rehearsing conversations is such a sign your nervous system is on alert. Over-preparing can feel productive, but it’s often just bracing for impact. It says a lot about the environment, not you.
