Yes Agree , PM needs to know something of everything . Lately trends have shifted having on tech people being in product roles which I think is counter intuitive to the premise . My thought is if you have not talked to clients you should not be a product manager
Having a support background/interest in connecting. I interact with customers really well and I’ve heard that some PM’s shy away from customer interviews. I enjoy them and get such valuable insight.
The best PMs focus on the what and why. They leave the how to the dev teams.
