If it were me, I would assume I didn't get it if I don't hear back in two weeks. I would keep applying for other things and if they call you back, great. It sounds to me like they are interviewing other candidates for the role.
I agree, however, it is a S&^%y thing to do to a potential employee. I've noticed a lot of these so-called bosses, supervisors, etc. don't even have the b@@ls to call people or email back. SMH
I’ve been there, and when a company ghosts you post-interview, it says a lot. That “in progress” status might mean you’re a backup while they try to close with someone else. Not a great look. Keep following up if you want, but don’t wait on them. Companies that value you show it by communicating clearly.
Usually means they went with someone else and they are waiting to get the person on board.
After three weeks you have to assume you've been ghosted. Some companies take forever to make decisions, but three weeks is a long time. And they could have updated you if they wanted to. You should keep applying elsewhere and if you hear back from this company that would be nice. But, sorry to say, you can't count on it at this point.
