Are these interviews tough?
Are these interviews meant to assess technical knowledge? For example, what is binomial distribution, what are different data structures in python, ml algorithms etc.

I have worked on multiple Google projects and tools, ranging from spreadsheets to Google Data Studio. Basis familiarity with the Google systems, I have applied to endless jobs in the organisation. However, I have no idea why is it sooooo difficult to even get an HR call for the screening.

Actually, after a certain period, a S/W eng role becomes that of a tech lead or manager or AVP. It's not like you'll keep on with tech stuff after 50+ as well, though that's the case in some large companies like Faang.
