There were 39 cars on track in my birth year. I didn’t know that cause I am bandwagon Drive to Survive f1 fan and not an OG. !!!39!!!
Attorney 1 - I know. It's crazy, but fantastic also, how young the group is and how many young people are into cars and F1.
For me, it was Jim Clark's 2nd WDC. They would show bits and pieces of races on ABCs Wide World of Sports, and even that was post 1976. You would hear names like Stewart and Fittipaldi and Lauda and Hunt and they all had the air and mythology around them. Guys like Hawthorne and Revson and Cevert too. Rindt. Piquet.
I really srated following religiously in 1988. Prost was my favorite... just SO smart and seemingly effortlessly quick. Driving with folks like Senna and Piquet, Mansell (that pic of the 4 world Champions sitting on the wall together). The brutality of driving a car from that era and just the insanity of those machines... The cars now are probably 30 sec a lap faster then those cars and look 45 sec slower when watching an on board
