Open to newer and experienced but need to really sell yourself. It’ll be extremely difficult for someone if they are new to the area and don’t really know many people.
In my experience, brokers are reluctant to hire without prior brokerage/consultant experience. Of course if you interview well and have a wealth of experience from the carrier side, then you have a much better chance. But you'll generally lose out to a candidate with any degree of brokerage experience, sadly.

I think it depends on your background. Do you have any sales experience? Some backgrounds have an easier transition to sales.
If you have a sales mindset and a network to build on its worth a shot. I know Gallagher will hire from outside of production if the candidate is driven and willing to network.
I have production experience with McGriff/Truist, but only a few years and no college degree.
