I start my internship today! I've been trying to find as many people who work in the agency as possible on LinkedIn, and going through pictures posted by the company to familiarise myself but the nervous feeling isn't going away. I've never worked in a corporate setting before and I had no it was going to feel this intimidating. Any words of comfort or motivation? What was your first day like? I'm worried I won't be able to make friends.

I’m not naive or fresh out of law school, but I’m at a point where I’m saying to myself “Why can’t I have it all?” I’ve been offered a job for more pay and less hours and I keep thinking to myself, what’s the catch? I know people will say no promotion potential or that’s not how it works…but what if it could? What if you make yourself valuable by still setting your boundaries? Why would we resent someone who has that opportunity?

Situation: got an offer from firm X; highly likely to get a better offer from firm Y but official offer would take a couple of more weeks in best case scenario. However, firm X’s offer validity about to run out. Would you: (1) accept X’s offer now but rescind later if Y converts (2) ask X for additional time to decide (they’re “prestigious” and may not offer additional time...) (3) Play straight, decline X and hope Y converts (4) any other creative ideas ...???

The particular job I’m looking at has this on the listing and I’m curious as to what their budget actually is. Do I assume a range?

They’re seeking someone with 5-8 years experience. I have the latter (8 almost 9)

How would I approach this when asked without pricing myself out of the position? Especially if they’re not willing to be upfront (assuming here) how much they’d want to offer me in particular.
