I think the first time in 50 years as a public school student or teacher, I’m in class on Presidents Day. And for several years had at least part if not all of previous Friday off. Ok, half day with kids on Monday and the rest PD, but still there all day. Still wondering a) why district set it, and b) why union approved it. Good news - had snow days to ease the mental burdens. I am finishing up my second year of practice as a lawyer. I transitioned to plaintiffs pi work from a boutique commercial litigation firm. I like the work and not having to bill. The issue I am having is managing volume. I have about 150 active files some pre-lit and the rest are in litigation. Cases range in value from very small to low six figures. I also take the driver seat for the grunt work on the firms bigger cases which are at or near 7 figure value. I constantly feel (cont.)

What's your preference for plaintiff's side? Steady pay at approximately $120k with no bonuses, or a base salary of $70k plus a cut of what you close over a minimum threashold? Midwest-ish market. In both situations, you get a cut of what you bring in.

Does anyone like ID work? Currently doing work at a PI/Medmal plaintiffs firm while in school and trying to figure out where I’ll be happiest post-grad. I LOVE it, but don’t know if ID will provide more security. For context, I had a, albeit, short career prior to law school and will 30 when I graduate in May. Comp and WLB are important given my later start.

I have recovered from Corona Virus. Its 6 weeks now and I can tell you that the after effects are real. I have anxiety that I will never get over the fatigue, brain fog, inability to form sentences and words and headaches which make my work days very difficult to get thru.

Thoughts on CPOAX?

I have got an offer for Manager level at a Big 4 in Consulting. People who are 3-4 years juniors at my MBA college are at Manager level and might get promoted sooner than me. Also, a couple of immediate juniors are at Senior Manager level.

Have you been in a similar situation? Is it awkard? How to handle it after joining?

PS: If you are wondering, I do not have a Big 4 or consulting experience while they have it.
