Good luck with that. It's really hard to get buy in for any kind of systemic change when you're new. My advice would be to document everything you can, put it into a report along with your recommendations and then sit tight until you've been there long enough for your perspective to be listened to and respected.

If it's a genuine improvement I would just mention it, just because it's always been done a certain way never means it should stay like that. You could mention to your manager first to get their thoughts.

Yeah, i have been on both sides of it and it is tricky to handle.
Get comfortable with using phrases like "I'm curious how this looks if we base our decision around X" and if you haven't yet created the data bring some of the old decision makers with you on a journey of discovery into "finding" the data and then pivot decisions off findings as a group. Trying to effect change as an individual in these situations is impossible - you need to bring others with you.
Make a point around aligning with industry standards… not personal, it’s business and our peers are doing it
Don’t try to change anything. Instead, try to document how we do this, and the history of why we do it that way. Where did that number, or practice come from. Assume a very intelligent engineer did it that way for a reason, and now try to figure out that reason.
Try bringing it up softly with senior leadership. “I noticed we do things a certain way. Is it possible we could explore a different way?”
