To stop working my day job
That is my reason!
I started my side gig while working full-time with the goal of time and location independence. I wanted to make enough money on my own time to do the things I love to do while my body is still capable of doing them. It made those early mornings and late nights of writing before and after work bearable. That was almost 6 years ago, and now I ski 5 days a week during the winter, MTB 5 days a week during the summer. And there is no shortage of funds to do so. My next step is to take the gig on the road and ski/ride throughout the U.S.
Retirement $ so I can leave the rat race asap
Not quite to my financial goal, but working on it 😃
My advice is to have a purpose. I personally use my side gig to pay off my phone bill, car insurance, Roth IRA contributions, and restaurant expenses each month! Tie a reason to your side gig and it will motivate you to meet or exceed your goals!
Sounds counterintuitive, but I do it for job security. My day job isn't the most loyal place, so it's nice to know if they randomly can me I'm not completely without an income stream.
Same!
For me, it's passion. I would literally be depressed if I didn't have something to look forward to outside of my regular job.
Buy my freedom! Ability to be work optional and retire my parents
Time and location freedom while solving a problem that bothers a lot of people
Extra fun money. I like being able to travel and never say no to fun opportunities. The extra money is really nice.
More income and specific financial goals.
I think it is to help people, that’s the only reason to have a business period
I need extra income, the company does not provide yearly increases in pay.
I’ve always wanted to own/run a small business and get much more satisfaction growing my personal revenue than my salary.
I like being able to help others and my side gig does that. Currently my personal goal is to eliminate my debt but eventually it would be to work my side gig full time and have that time freedom to spend with my kids and grandkids.
