Will definitely be an uphill battle because you’re competing with laid off folks who were recently laid off with the same or more experience. I would have a really good story lined up.

Just think how miserable you’d be now if you didn’t take a break? Can’t sweat it and worry about what-if’s…we didn’t know Trump would be back to finish off our country so quickly 🤷🏼♂️
📌We can’t assume it’s going to be a rockier road for you JUST BECAUSE of the recent mass layoffs. There are some people (still) sitting on unemployment collecting a check. You, on the other hand, can always enter in another focus area of IT. In the meantime, take on some free or affordable continuing Ed courses in updated software systems and/or data systems. You got this!!! I have faith in you, and you’ll do very well on the market.
Life is too short to be wondering about “what-ifs”. It’s great to see you put yourself first, and it seems like you made the most of your break. I wish taking time when needed was more common, instead of everyone being corporate try-hards (to the detriment of everything else in one’s life).
Will it harder to get back into the workforce, sure because it’s always harder to get a job when you don’t have one - but it is not impossible. Your story can be a compelling one, and you’re a better professional because of it. I believe in you to not only come back, but to come back stronger, healthier and better. The right employer will see this. You’ve got this!

Love this message!
On your resume, put Career Break - then say, due to personal and family reasons I was unable to work during this time. This way you address the gap and they shouldn't ask questions. I did that after a 4 year gap and I was able to get a job
First I’m jealous that you’re able to take a long break. Second, I’m glad you did as I think it’s great to start at a healthier place. As a hiring manager it can go in any direction. I’m not sure what industry you are in but for me, I’m in the manufacturing setting. It wouldn’t be a good signal that an employee has been gone for so long. It also questions how well the individual will fare in the current work environment which can’t be guaranteed to be stress free.
I did the same! I came back refreshed and thanks to God after about a year ended up a place that helped me grow significantly and I was promoted multiple times. You’ll be fine.

Call it a sabbatical so it sounds intentional ;)
