What are some of the typical positions that are pursued after a marketing consultant role? What are some pointers that you can give to someone who wants to advance their career? What are some things that I can do now to prepare me for that next role?

My wife surprised me last night for my 30th bday (which was last week) with a get together with my closest friends I have known since middle school. Most of them live out of state with kids and somehow it all worked out. Feeling really loved.

Am I going crazy? I feel like my close friend is always trying to “one up” me in conversation. Any time I make a point, they will go out of their way to prove I’m wrong with some sort of stat or evidence. It’s like they need to have the last say.

They try to make me look bad at times without noticing. I don’t know how to approach this as we are all in a pretty tight friend group.

I have an estranged relationship with my sister. I haven’t had a relationship with her in 13+ years, and haven’t even seen her in about 5 years. We had a really bad falling out and I never really carried for her as a person. But for some reason I feel an immense guilt for not wanting a relationship, simply because of this convoluted idea of family and sticking together no matter what. Anyone else have this issue? How do I go about making peace with someone I don’t want nothing to do with?

Genuine question - why do people slide into DMs on here? Why would you spend time trying to get to know someone when there’s like a 1% chance you’re in the same geographical area and would have mutual interest in each other? Several years ago a gay male acquaintance said he didn't date Black guys. It made me bristle but I was not surprised. Now he's married to one. I feel in a way vindicated every time I see his loving social media posts with his Black husband of like 5 years or so now.

How did he get over his apparent aversion to Black men enough to go and marry one? Where would he be if he hadn't had a change of heart?

I wish there were a tactful way to remind him he said that and watch as he eats his words...
