I used to see the last week of December as a dead zone for job hunting, but this year, I’m actually doubling down. My inbox is quieter, everyone’s OOO, and weirdly? That’s helping me focus. I’ve updated my resume, sent out five apps, and even reached out to two old colleagues. Anyone else using this quiet week to make moves? Or do you fully unplug until January?

It's as good a time as any to apply for jobs. If you see something posted, respond right away, before the company stops looking at everything that floods in. I wouldn't expect to hear anything back from anywhere until next week, but that's no reason to be idle if you've got time this week.

Way to go! Yes, send those apps. Companies have submitted their budgets for the new year, so it doesn't hurt to keep applying. I've applied for a few today myself, but will only apply for special roles with high salaries.

I'm fully unplugging until next week. I burned myself out job hunting the past couple months and need the break. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

That actually makes a lot of sense. The quiet can be really motivating when there are fewer distractions, and it sounds like you’re using it well. I usually half-unplug, half-reset, enough rest to recharge, but still taking advantage of the slower pace to get a few things done.

It does make a lot of sense. The quiet can be a great time to get everything done and get caught up. I have been getting my resume ready to start applying for new jobs in the new year.

I’m fully unplugged. My worry is that my apps will get buried in the post-holiday catchup

Way to go!

I'm in finance/tech FPA, looking to go back to the defense industry for a 25% increase in TC. But wanted to see if I should leverage the new salary with current company to see if they'll match.

Background: got a promotion at current company that didn't come with sufficient increase . After stating my case I was told it would be evaluated next October, which is what prompted the initial job search.

Current TC 103K [88/15], offer 125k base [+discretionary bonus].

Hey all! I have an interview with
Deloitte in Regulatory Risk and more precisely in their Investment Management Services team. I would like to know if anyone

Is it the case here?

Just found out that end of the year I will be promoted from analyst directly to VP and since it’s such a large jump I’ll be the lowest paid VP in asset management at only $135k TC. Should I stay it out and wait for TC to align or take the promotion and jump ship bc I will likely get paid more elsewhere given how recruiters/other companies eat up hiring recently promoted ppl from other firms?
