I teach Literature. I branch out all the time. Books have to be approved by our school board unless they are books I’m piloting, so often times I say I’m piloting a book. After, I report results. The only thing I’d say is that it’s a lot of work. You have to get vocabulary lists together and questions for chapters, tests and quizzes…unless you are reading it for for with the kids. I’m not sure how this relates to physical ed, but I’m a strong believer in, “read, read, read!”

I know that kids do not get enough reading now days. It makes me sad, because reading is so good for people.
As a high school ELA teacher, you can't read enough with our kids. I wouldn't use the book as a lit unit, but it could be a fun end of period activity with your kids. Read it aloud to them. Ask them comprehension questions. Connect the book to the real world / work force / adulting applications...
Reading is cross curricular, no one owns it.
The book sounds really cool! If you can't read the whole book you could even just take interesting exercts and talk about those.

I am impressed with the authors. They actually have a pretty cool interview on YouTube
